Nazju Magro was born in Qrendi on the 29 th January 1926, son of Joseph and Rosanna nee Mallia. He was baptised in the St Mary Church in Qrendi on the 31 st January 1926. At a young age he moved to Balzan along with his family.

Like all the children in Balzan, Nazju began to interest himself in th feast of the Annunciation and on the 15^th February 1948 he became a member of the Society.

One one reads the history of the club one finds that these times where difficult times for the club, it was just after the second World War and the Society had lost one of its members, Wigi Ebejer who died suddenly at the age of 41 and at that time occupied the post of secretary.

It was on Sunday 7^th January 1951 that during that during the annual general meeting, Nazju was elected for the first time as part of the Executive Committee. Nazju among other members gave new life to the club

Nazju used to be involved in all that the club organized amongst which are carnival floats, feast decorations, fund raising for the Feast of The Annunciation

But most of all Nazju will be remembered for the vast amount of manual work he did at the club, one must say that when the club building was bought in 1947 it was left abandoned for some time so one must imagine the maintenance needed and Nazju along with his friends gave all their help.

He was a hard worker were feast decorations came about. And at that time it was hard and strenuous work because there was no machinery like now a day.

Nazju had a quiet character and one must say even shy, but he always found the time to celebrate after the year’s hard work for the feast and club. One could see him in the marches with a sombrero to cover himself from the fire and light the Gesturi which where like small fireworks. Together with Gianni known as Pizzerel and Joseph Calleja.

Nazju not only worked for the club and the Society but also worked hard to raise a family, as obne should. He was married to Lorenza and had four children one of which is a member of the executive Committee.

On Friday 4^th October 1985 a general meeting was to be held , but was cancelled suddenly. Nazju passed away in the Club. Nazju died in the club were he dedicated most of his time and life He died in a quiet atmosphere surrounded by his friends Geradu Ebejer, Benny Pace, Alfred Caruana, and Guzeppi Calleja.
