Mr.
Calleja was born on the 17th of February 1928, in Valletta. At the
age of four Joseph left Valletta with his family and joined the Balzan
community. At twenty two years of age he joined the Annunciation Band Club and
started to collect money for the feast, he was the first along with Valent
Chetcuti to organize the march for the last Tridu for the first time in 1946. In
1947, Calleja joined the St Gabriel Band Club, after Wigi Ebejer asked him to
collect money for the Land fireworks, together with Joseph Chetcuti.
From
that day on Joseph Calleja never stopped. He collected money for the feast with
several other people.
Calleja
was served as an active central committee member.
