21st March - Holy Week Exhibition.

12th March - Opening of the Exhibition, "AGHMLU DAN B’TIFKIRA TIEGHI!".
On Wednesday 12th March 2008, at 7.30pm it was officially opened the Holy Week Exhibition. This year the honour was given to Mr. Charles Bezzina to open this exhibition and blessed by the Parish Priest Dun Kalcidon Vassallo. After the opening a small party was organized between the members of the committee, and all those present at the Club.

7th March - The Exhibition & Processions of Good Friday 2008.
The St. Gabriel Band Club Youth Committee is organizing the Annual Holy Week Exhibition 2008 in the St. Gabriel Band Club.  This exhibition goes back to 2001 when this committee decided to organize such exhibition in order to keep alive such traditions. Preparations will start exactly after the Christmas period.  The chosen theme is ‘AGHMLU DAN B’TIFKIRA TIEGHI!’. With the limited space -as the construction for the Multi-Purpose Hall is on the way- the exhibition is a highly worth recommended.  The facade of the Club is decorated for the occasion while inside one can see a wooden cross done and donated by Jesmond Agius.  The exhibition continues in another room where one can appreciate the last supper table.  Three life-size static figures - Christ together with John the Apostle and Peter -dominate the last supper table.  These works were done last year by sculptor Ramon Camilleri McKay.  Opposite, one can find a miniature of the best episodes which lead Christ to be crucified.  This miniature was perfectly done by Franklin Leeks.

Our participation in Processions.

Usually, members from the St. Gabriel Band Club accept invitations from various localities to take part in processions.  But this year, as the General Election 2008 fell on a week prior the Holy Week, such processions were cancelled.  Even the Palm Sunday Procession held annually in our locality Balzan is cancelled.  We will only take part in Birkirkara where on Easter Sunday, the Risen Lord procession will be held in the evening.

Everyone is welcome to visit this Holy Week Exhibition in the St. Gabriel Band Club.  The Youth Committee thanks those persons who voluntary worked in this highly organized exhibition.  Happy Easter to everyone.

2007

The St. Gabriel Band Club Youths Committee had organised The Good Friday Exibition since 2001.  As The New Year proceed, preparations will start all the way.  Yes...weeks of hard work to achieve a success as every year, the Committee will try to exhibit something different from the year before in order to keep the interest on going.

The 2007 Exhibition

As one can notice that some extensive work are being carried out in our club, this year's exhibition is going to be limited only for this year.  But we are still going to do our best to have a well-planned exhibition.  And definitely we are therefore going to concentrate more on the Palm Sunday Procession that will start at 10.20am sharp from the St. Gabriel Band Club Premises.

What can I see in the 2007 Holy Week Exhibition?

Outside the Club, one can see 2 splendid baroque banners, then inside one can see a huge cross done and donated by Mr. Jesmond Agius, then an artistic Last-Supper table which this years will include another two life-size Apostles done by Mr. Ramon Camilleri Mc Kay.  These life-sizes statues will be next to the other life-size figure of Jesus.  Mr. Franklin Leeks has for another year worked a miniature of  all the episode that took place until  Jesus was Crucified.

Our Participation in Gozo and Birkirkara

For the 3rd year running, our members are invited to participate in a pageant 'L-Imsallab if Triqatna' to be held in Rabat, Gozo on the 24 March, 2007 and on Easter Sunday evening at Birkirkara in the procession of the Risen Christ.  Definitely, we will keep our appointment on 1 April, 2007 for the Palm Sunday Procession in our village Balzan.  Around 70 costumes will take part in this years' procession.  One has to say that these participants members will also take part in Good Friday Processions held in localities around Malta.

The Palm Sunday Procession... Getting Bigger!

This is the 4th edition of the Palm Sunday Procession in Balzan.  Year after year, more enthusiasm for this event is going on.   In fact this year there will be around 70 personalities taking part which include the Apostles, Roman soldiers, the Jews and more.  A big thank you goes to all our members that day after day worked on these marvellous costumes.

The Palm Sunday Procession around the streets of Balzan will be held on 1 April, 2007 at 10.20am sharp exactly after the 9.30am Mass.  The event will finish around 11.25am.  After reading this informative article, try to make it a point that you  come and watch what we can offer.  This definitely give us more energy for the future to organize such events.  Your support is important.  See you there!!

The Youth Committee thanks everyone...those who helped in the organizing of such event and urge the people to visit our exhibition.  So, Happy Easter to everyone.
