Gabriel Pullicino was born in Hal Balzan on 4 April, 2007.  At a very young age, he was interested regarding the village festa of the Annunciation.  Together with his father, he helped out in a lot of activities such as he worked in the Balzan Cemetery and some other dangerous works inside the Parish Church.  

He occupied such position as Vice-President for Kazin Marija Annunzjata better known today as Socjeta’ Filarmonika Marija Annunzjata.  Between 1974 and 1987, he was the Hon. Secretary of the Nationalist Party Club.  In 1961, he became a member in the St. Gabriel Band Club and a year later he was in charge of the Band’s Archives.   One has to say that he helped out when the St. Gabriel Band Club used to take part in the feast of Madonna ta’ l-Abbandunati  in Wardija. 

For years he was involved so much in decorating the façade of the Parish Church for the feast of the Annunciation.  At that time. no high-ups were available but Gabriel together with the late Karmnu l-Patrakk and Piju Ebejer used to fix all lights in high risk situation.  But I think that the greatest achievement in his life…apart his family…was that he did 32 years in a row carrying shoulder high the statue of Our Lady of the Annunciation around the streets of Balzan during the festa time. 

Between 1993 and 1995 he was the Hon. Secretary of our Club under the Presidency of Guido Borg.  Infact in this period, he collected money in order that the Club will have a statue of the Saint Patron….Angel St. Gabriel.  This statue will be carried shoulder high during the village festa exactly on Friday night when the St. Gabriel Band will be en fete’ with its members and supporters celebrating one of the biggest moment of the feast as at the end the statue will be put on a decorated platform next to the club.  These last years, he continued working for the club as he was there every time needed.  On September 6, 2006, the Central Committee nominated him as a Honourable Member for his continuous work in our Club. 

 He died on Sunday 04 March, 2007.
